The Real Conversation That Jesse Jackson Doesn’t Want Us to Have

The shooting of 17-year old Trayvon Martin is a terrible tragedy. In a perfect world, or even a slightly better one, it would never have happened. But the real story here is far more dangerous and alarming; the obscene attempt by America’s ever-present race mongers to portray this tragedy as evidence of a general war on black people. If this vicious lie slanders white people, it serves its purported beneficiaries no better. For it obscures, (as it is intended to) actual truths which desperately need to be addressed if life in our inner cities is ever to improve. The fact is, it is not rogue white people who are killing young blacks but, overwhelmingly, other young blacks. And, indeed, by a large measure, blacks generally are far more apt to be perpetrators of murders against whites than the other way around. According to the most recent available Justice Department statistics, from 2009, while about 13% of the population is black and 80% is recorded as white (this number includes Hispanics) 2,604 black people were killed by other blacks that year and only 209 blacks were killed by whites; while the number of whites killed by blacks—454—was more than double the other way around.

The bottom line: overwhelmingly it is black predators who are preying on those in their own communities.

If they had a shred of decency, this is the gruesome reality the Sharptons and Jackson would be addressing. Why, instead, do they endlessly push the white racism narrative? Because to face the actual facts would mean shedding the mantle of victimhood and facing up to painful issues of individual behavior and personal responsibility. It is infinitely easier to conflate the lone crime of one erratic Florida loser into a national issue, than to face up to that elephant in the room—but it is as morally reprehensible as any murder.

Will they get away with it, as they have so often in the past? Maybe not. For the fact is, for all the avid media support of the race mongers, tens of millions of ordinary people see the disgusting fraud at hand for precisely what it is. And decent white people are frankly sick to death of being accused of racism simply because it suits the purposes of the Jacksons, Sharptons and their liberal allies in the Democratic Party and the media.

Here is the typically fawning coverage of Jesse Jackson in the L.A. Times. But read, too, the comments, for they are far more revealing.

Have You Been Called a Racist?

The left uses the word “racist” like a truncheon, to beat down opposition, to silence dissent, to cut the ground out from under whoever they’re arguing with. And it works – because we allow it to. Isn’t it time to stop letting them get away with character assassination, and fight back?

If you’ve been accused of racism – at work, among friends, by a liberal trying to shut you up and end the discourse – I’d like to hear about it. This crap will stop when we stop taking it seriously, and treat it with the amused contempt (or downright mockery – your choice!) that it so richly deserves.

Let me hear from you, if you’ve got a story to tell. Because it doesn’t take a crystal ball to predict we’re going be seeing a lot of these cards being played.

Rick-rolling Commences

I’m not surprised to see that the newest attack swarm on Rick Santorum coming from the left is all about calling him out as a racist. As I said in my forthcoming book, “What’s surprising, and deeply disheartening, is how intimidated even otherwise principled conservatives have invariably been by the threat of being branded racist.  When accused of racial insensitivity of any kind, the impulse of many on the right has been to retreat in panic and confusion, slavishly apologizing or claiming to have been misunderstood or misquoted.”

When all else fails, it’s the one slur that will stick—a fact noted and taken advantage of by the bottom-feeding opposition.
